We are seeking to appoint a Cook for TS ROYALIST, a 31 metre offshore sail training brig based in Gosport, to start before the start of the new sailing season (early March 2016). The ship is brand new, having been constructed in Spain and delivered to the MSSC during 2015. Therefore, she has modern and spacious accommodation for the adult crew and a well appointed Galley and food service facilities. 2016 will be her first full operational sailing season.
This is a seasonal position, fixed term from 15th February to 30th November.
The vessel undertakes 6 day voyages for up to 24 Cadets at a time around the UK and near continent, from March to November. Between December and February, the vessel undergoes winter maintenance, including a docking, usually in the Gosport area.
Applicants should have the requisite experience and ability to cook at sea to provide balanced and nutritious meals for the embarked crew from a small galley, together with ordering and management of victualing stores. The ability to work effectively with permanent and relief crew members and young people is essential.
Prospective candidates should hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and should also either hold a current Seafarer Medical Certificate, or be willing to obtain one.
The appointee will be required to become/remain a uniformed member of the Sea Cadet Corps and will be responsible to the Sailing Master, TS Royalist.
